Bax와 Bak은 미토콘드리아로부터 cytochrome c 방출을 유도하여 세포사멸을 개시하는 중요한 역할을 하며, Bax는 세포사멸을 촉진하는 기능을 가집니다.
BCL-2의 지속적인 발현(예: Ig heavy chain locus로의 전좌)은 여포성 림프종의 주요 원인으로 알려져 있습니다. 대부분의 여포성 림프종에서 BCL-2 alpha 단백질이 과발현되며, 정상 또는 과형성된 배중심에서는 음성입니다.
