Target Information

Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and have diverse functions, including transcriptional activation or repression. Most zinc-finger proteins possess a Kruppel-type DNA binding domain and a KRAB domain, which interacts with KAP1 to recruit histone-modifying proteins.

ZNF232 (Zinc finger and SCAN domain-containing protein 11) is a 417 amino acid protein belonging to the Kruppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. It localizes to the nucleus and contains one SCAN box domain and five C2H2-type zinc fingers, suggesting a role in transcriptional regulation. ZNF232 is ubiquitously expressed, with high levels in testis, liver, and ovary, and exists as two isoforms produced by alternative splicing.
