CD86는 CTLA4 및 CD28의 두 리간드 중 하나로, 항원 제시 시 T세포 활성화에 필요한 공동자극 신호를 제공합니다. 충분한 공동자극이 없는 항원 제시는 면역 관용을 유도할 수 있습니다. CD86은 면역글로불린 초가족에 속하는 I형 막 단백질로, 항원제시세포(APC)에 의해 발현됩니다.
CD86과 CD28의 결합은 T세포 활성화를 유도하는 공동자극 신호를 제공하며, CD86과 CTLA4의 결합은 T세포 활성화를 억제하여 면역 반응을 조절합니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 서로 다른 두 가지 아이소폼이 생성될 수 있으며, CD86 기능 이상은 담낭 편평상피세포암 및 심근염과 관련이 있습니다.
