Target Information
VPS39 is the mammalian homolog of the yeast vacuolar protein VAM6. In mammals, it promotes lysosome clustering and fusion in vivo and modulates the TGF-beta response by coupling the receptor complex to the Smad pathway. VPS39 is essential for early embryonic development; mice lacking VPS39 die at or before E6.5.
