Target Information
Tubulin family members are globular proteins essential for microtubule assembly, which play key roles in mitosis, cytokinesis, and vesicle transport.
TPPP (Tubulin polymerization-promoting protein), also known as p24/p25, is a 219-amino-acid protein localized in the perinuclear cytoplasm. It promotes tubulin polymerization into double-walled tubules and stabilizes microtubule structures.
Overexpression of TPPP disrupts mitotic spindle formation and nuclear envelope breakdown. It is phosphorylated by TPK II and encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 5.
TPPP may contribute to microtubule polymerization, bundling, and stabilization, maintaining microtubule network integrity and participating in mitotic spindle assembly.
