Target Information

Required for 7-methylguanosine modification of tRNA. This protein belongs to the WD repeat protein family, characterized by ~40 amino acid repeats typically bracketed by gly-his and trp-asp (GH-WD). These repeats may facilitate formation of heterotrimeric or multiprotein complexes. Members of this family are involved in various cellular processes including:

• Cell cycle progression
• Signal transduction
• Apoptosis
• Gene regulation

This protein is excluded as a candidate for nonsyndromic deafness (DFNB10) but remains a candidate for other disorders mapped to 21q22.3 and for potential involvement in Down syndrome phenotypes. Alternative splicing generates at least three transcript variants, two of which encode the same protein.
