Target Information
TSC22 domain family protein (TSC22) is a transcription factor belonging to the early response gene family. It acts as a transcriptional repressor on the C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) promoter.
TSC22 is an intracellular protein found in the cytoplasm or nucleus, regulating cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. It modulates transcriptional activity of Smad3 and Smad4, and is expressed broadly in fetal and adult tissues, including aortic endothelial cells. Expression is induced by cytokines such as TGFB.
Potential therapeutic relevance includes leukemia and prostate cancer research.
