Mouse anti-Human CD29 monoclonal antibody, clone 12G10, recognizes human CD29, also known as beta1 integrin or VLA-4 subunit alpha.

Target Information

ITGB1 (Integrin Subunit Beta 1, CD29) is a 110 kDa cell surface glycoprotein widely expressed on various cells including all leukocytes.
It forms non-covalent heterodimers with at least six different alpha chains (α1–α6), determining the binding properties of β1 (VLA) integrins.

ITGB1 functions as a cell adhesion molecule on platelets and as a common β subunit of the very late activation antigen (VLA). It participates in binding to extracellular matrix proteins.
Decreased expression of ITGB1 is associated with multidrug resistance in tumor cells. It is upregulated in leukocytes during emigration and migration, playing a role in immune cell trafficking.

Additionally, ITGB1 regulates tissue damage and inflammatory responses such as those in inflammatory bowel disease. Through an ITGB1-dependent mechanism, fibronectin and type I collagen enhance cytokine secretion of human airway smooth muscle in response to IL-1β.

There are two major isoforms of integrin β1: β1A and β1D, differing by 13 amino acids. β1A is found in most tissues except cardiac and skeletal muscle, which express β1D.
