Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as novel biomarkers for cancer and other diseases. The KLK8 gene, located within a kallikrein cluster on chromosome 19, may participate in proteolytic cascades in the skin and serve as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternate splicing.
