Target Information
The QSOX1 gene (Quiescin Q6) is a fusion of two ancient genes: thioredoxin and ERV1. Its expression increases as fibroblasts exit the proliferative cycle and enter quiescence, indicating its role in growth regulation.
QSOX1 oxidizes sulfhydryl groups to form disulfide bonds in proteins. Expression is induced by hypoxia and may protect cells from oxidative stress-induced apoptosis.
