Target Information
TSH Receptor gene encodes a membrane protein that plays a major role in controlling thyroid cell metabolism. This receptor binds thyrotropin and thyrostimulin, with activity mediated through adenylate cyclase. Mutations in this gene are associated with various forms of hyperthyroidism. Three transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
