cAMP는 다양한 세포 기능에 중요한 신호 전달 분자로, cAMP-dependent protein kinase (AMPK)를 활성화하여 여러 표적 단백질을 인산화함으로써 신호를 전달합니다. AMPK의 비활성형 홀로엔자임은 두 개의 조절 서브유닛과 두 개의 촉매 서브유닛으로 구성된 테트라머입니다. cAMP는 이 복합체를 분리시켜 네 개의 cAMP에 결합된 두 개의 조절 서브유닛과 두 개의 자유 촉매 서브유닛으로 만듭니다. 인간에서는 네 가지 조절 서브유닛과 세 가지 촉매 서브유닛이 확인되었습니다. 본 제품이 인식하는 단백질은 이러한 조절 서브유닛 중 하나이며, 활성화된 촉매 서브유닛에 의해 인산화될 수 있습니다. 또한 A-kinase anchoring protein과 상호작용하여 AMPK의 세포 내 위치를 결정할 수 있습니다.
