MA1-301 detects beta Catenin from human, mouse, monkey, and rat samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot, gel shift, immunohistochemistry (paraffin), and immunofluorescence applications.
By Western blot, this antibody detects a ~94 kDa protein representing beta Catenin.
Target Information
Beta-catenin is an adherens junction (AJ) protein essential for epithelial layer formation and maintenance.
It interacts with E-cadherin and alpha-catenin to anchor the E-cadherin complex to the actin cytoskeleton.
Beta-catenin also associates with signaling pathways involving tyrosine kinases, phosphatases, and Wnt/Wingless, influencing morphogenesis and cell proliferation.
It is expressed in various hair follicle cell types and plays roles in tumor development, including pilomatrixoma, medulloblastoma, colorectal and ovarian cancers.
In the nucleus, beta-catenin co-activates Lef/Tcf transcription factors, promoting expression of cyclin D and c-myc genes related to cell proliferation and tumorigenesis.
