Target Information

Semaphorins are a large family of secreted and membrane-associated proteins involved in axon guidance, fasciculation, branching, and target selection. All semaphorins possess a semaphorin (Sema) domain and a PSI domain in the N-terminal extracellular region. Additional C-terminal sequence motifs allow classification into distinct subfamilies. Transmembrane semaphorins, including SEMA6D, act as repulsive axon guidance cues.
SEMA6D is a class 6 vertebrate transmembrane semaphorin that undergoes alternative splicing, producing six transcript variants with tissue- and development-dependent expression.
