Target Information
TRPML3 is expressed in the cochlea, particularly in inner and outer hair cells.
Defects in Mcoln3 cause the varitin-waddler (Va) phenotype, characterized by early-onset hearing loss, vestibular defects, pigmentation abnormalities, and perinatal lethality.
The varitin-waddler Jackcon (Va-J) phenotype is similar but less severe.
TRPML3 belongs to the transient receptor family, polycystin subfamily.
