Target Information

HLA-DMA belongs to the HLA class II alpha chain paralogues. This molecule forms a heterodimer with a beta chain (DMB), both anchored in the membrane and located in intracellular vesicles.
DM plays a central role in peptide loading of MHC class II molecules by releasing the CLIP molecule from the peptide binding site.
Class II molecules are expressed in antigen-presenting cells (APC: B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, macrophages).
The alpha chain is approximately 33–35 kDa and its gene contains 5 exons:

1. Exon 1 encodes the leader peptide
2. Exons 2 and 3 encode the extracellular domains
3. Exon 4 encodes the transmembrane domain and cytoplasmic tail

HLA and MHC antibodies are critical in Immunopeptidomics, aiding identification and characterization of neoantigens via high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry.
