Target Information
RGS14 is a member of the regulator of G-protein signaling family, containing one RGS domain, two Raf-like Ras-binding domains (RBDs), and one GoLoco domain. It attenuates G-protein signaling by interacting with activated GTP-bound G alpha subunits and acts as a GTPase activating protein (GAP), promoting hydrolysis of GTP to GDP. This process allows formation of inactive G-protein heterotrimers, terminating the signal.
RGS14 also functions as a positive modulator of microtubule polymerization and spindle organization via a G(i)-alpha-dependent mechanism, playing roles in cell division, NGF-mediated neurite outgrowth, stress resistance, and hippocampal-based learning and memory.
