Target Information
TRPC2 is thought to form a receptor-activated calcium permeant cation channel. It likely operates via a phosphatidylinositol second messenger system activated by receptor tyrosine kinases or G-protein coupled receptors.
Not activated by intracellular calcium store depletion.
Expressed exclusively in vomeronasal organ neurons (sensory microvilli).
Belongs to the transient receptor family, STrpC subfamily, and contains 3 ANK repeats.
