Target Information
MAP2K1 (MEK1) kinase is a dual-specificity protein kinase functioning in mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascades, regulating cell growth and differentiation. It is activated by various growth factors, cytokines, and calcium influx, and phosphorylated by Raf1 at serine 218 and 222 residues. MEK1 is involved in stress response, apoptosis, and cytokine-induced proliferation. Mutations in the MAP2K1 gene are associated with cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome.
