Target Information
CPA1 (Carboxypeptidase A1), also known as CPA, is a 419 amino acid secreted monomeric protein highly expressed in pancreatic tissue. It functions as a pancreatic exopeptidase, using zinc as a cofactor to catalyze the release of C-terminal amino acids from proteins, playing a key role in protein digestion and degradation. CPA1 may also be involved in zymogen inhibition, potentially blocking enzyme activation pathways. Abnormal CPA1 levels are associated with pancreatic cancer, indicating a possible role in tumor progression or suppression.
