Product Specific Information
PA1-27226 detects E. coli from bacterial samples.
It is reactive to all E. coli species in the immunogen, plus O157:H7 and K12 tested by immunoblot.
Reacts with more than 50 proteins by Western blot.
Target Information
Escherichia coli (E. coli) are Gram-negative enteric bacteria that live in the human gut.
Their presence in nature indicates human fecal pollution. E. coli can cause diseases such as urinary tract infections and neonatal meningitis.
Infection with particular enterotoxigenic strains can lead to life-threatening intestinal diseases.
E. coli are immunologically distinguished by serotyping based on three antigen types:
- O antigen: terminal sugars on lipopolysaccharide
- K antigen: capsular antigens
- H antigen: flagellar antigens
