Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is vital for brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene are associated with tumors such as anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer. Chromosomal rearrangements often produce fusion genes like NPM-ALK, which have oncogenic properties. ALK possesses transmembrane and extracellular domains absent in NPM-ALK, and shows high sequence similarity to LTK. It plays an essential role in neuronal development and signaling.
