Target Information
Variant histone H2A that replaces conventional H2A in specific nucleosomes, contributing to transcriptional repression. Nucleosomes compact DNA into chromatin, regulating DNA accessibility for transcription, repair, replication, and chromosomal stability. DNA accessibility is modulated by histone post-translational modifications (histone code) and nucleosome remodeling. Macro H2A.2 may play a role in stable X chromosome inactivation.
