Target Information
STING is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that acts as an important component of innate immune signaling. It activates NF-kappa-B and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce type I interferon (IFN-α and IFN-β) expression, establishing an antiviral state. STING may also influence translocon function and is involved in apoptotic signal transduction through association with MHC-II. It helps detect intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA, mediating death signaling via the ERK pathway. STING is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrion outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues.
