Target Information
IRF9 (ISGF3G) is a transcription factor essential for antiviral immunity. It mediates signaling by type I interferons (IFN-α and IFN-β). Upon IFN binding, TYK2 and JAK1 kinases activate STAT1 and STAT2 through phosphorylation. IRF9 associates with the STAT1:STAT2 dimer to form the ISGF3 complex, which translocates to the nucleus and binds to interferon-stimulated response elements (ISREs) to activate transcription of interferon-stimulated genes, driving antiviral responses.
