Target Information

Voltage-gated potassium channels are a large and diverse class of ion channels found in both excitable and nonexcitable cells. They regulate resting membrane potential and control action potential shape and frequency.
KCNS1 encodes an electrically silent alpha subunit that modulates the activity of functional alpha subunits in the Shab-related potassium channel family. It belongs to the S subfamily of potassium channel proteins.
