Gene: ITAGV (Integrin alpha chain V)
Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain. The integrin alpha V undergoes post-translational cleavage to yield disulfide-linked heavy and light chains that combine with multiple integrin beta chains (β1, β3, β5, β6, β8) to form various integrins. Among these, the αVβ3 integrin, known as the Vitronectin receptor (VNR), is widely studied. Integrins mediate cell adhesion and signal transduction. The ITGB3 gene encodes the integrin β3 chain, which associates with the αIIb chain in platelets.
