Antibody detects endogenous levels of total MIA3.

Target Information

MIA3 plays a role in the transport of cargos too large for COPII-coated vesicles, facilitating export from the endoplasmic reticulum. It is essential for collagen VII (COL7A1) secretion by incorporating COL7A1 into transport carriers. MIA3 interacts with COPII coat subunits Sec23/24 and guides SH3-bound COL7A1 into growing carriers. It does not affect global protein secretion but may assist in secretion of specific proteins, including lipoproteins, by participating in their export from the ER. It is also required for proper assembly of COPII coat components at ER exit sites and for localization of SEC16A and ER-resident complexes (MIA2, PREB/SEC12) to ERES.
