Target Information
CD90 (Thy1) antigen is a GPI-linked glycoprotein belonging to the Immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed in murine T cells, thymocytes, neural cells, Kupffer’s cells, and fibroblasts. CD90 is involved in cell-cell and cell-ligand interactions during synaptogenesis and other neural events. It serves as a marker for various stem cells and axonal processes of mature neurons. Structural studies of CD90 contributed to the foundation of the Immunoglobulin superfamily and the first biochemical description of a vertebrate GPI anchor. Dysfunctions in CD90 are associated with nasopharyngeal carcinoma and thymoma.
