Description:
The B-Ly7 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD103 (integrin alpha E), which non-covalently associates with integrin beta 7. CD103 is expressed mainly on intraepithelial lymphocytes and a small subset of peripheral lymphocytes, as well as in hairy cell leukemia and some chronic B cell leukemias. In vitro stimulation of human T cells with mitogens induces CD103 upregulation. E-cadherin binds to CD103, mediating lymphocyte homing to the intestinal epithelium.

B-Ly7 has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
This antibody has been pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of 2–3 day PHA-activated human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (2 µg) per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information
CD103 (ITGAE, Integrin alpha E) is expressed on mucosa-associated T lymphocytes and activated cells. It forms a heterodimer with integrin beta 7, creating the E-cadherin binding integrin known as human mucosal lymphocyte-1 antigen. CD103 includes a 150 kDa alpha chain and a 120 kDa beta chain, expressed by 0.5–2% of resting lymphocytes in peripheral blood and lymphoid organs. It plays roles in adhesion and activation of intraepithelial lymphocytes. Dysregulation is associated with diseases such as hairy cell leukemia and splenic marginal zone lymphoma.
