Target Information
The PPAR gamma gene encodes a member of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) subfamily of nuclear receptors. PPARs form heterodimers with retinoid X receptors (RXRs) and regulate transcription of various genes.
PPAR gamma is a key regulator of adipocyte differentiation and has been implicated in obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis, and cancer.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
