Target Information
Hepatocyte nuclear factor 6 (HNF6) is a CUT homeobox family protein and transcription factor containing both CUT and homeobox DNA-binding domains. It regulates multiple genes involved in the pathogenesis of maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY). HNF6 acts as a ligand of the FOXM1 transcription factor network and, together with HNF4, controls liver gene expression. Expression levels of HNF6 and HNF4 increase during development, and their regulation affects g6pc gene expression timing.
