Target Information
RBM35A, also known as ESRP2, is an mRNA splicing factor that, along with its related protein RBM35A (ESRP1), coordinates epithelial cell-type-specific splicing programs. Both RBM35B and RBM35A regulate posttranscriptional expression of genes such as FGFR2, CD44, CTNND1, and ENAH, influencing protein translation via 5' UTRs of mRNAs. These proteins act as global regulators of epithelial regulatory networks.
Loss of the ESRP-regulated splicing program induces phenotypic changes characteristic of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT).
