This antibody detects endogenous levels of total TAS2R41.
Target Information
TAS2R41 is a receptor that may play a role in the perception of bitterness and belongs to the G-protein receptor superfamily. It is expressed mainly in taste receptor cells of the tongue and palate epithelia. The TAS2R41 gene encodes a seven-transmembrane receptor protein and is clustered with eight other taste receptor genes on chromosome 7. The compound chloramphenicol acts as an agonist for TAS2R41. This receptor may also be involved in sensing the chemical composition of gastrointestinal contents, stimulating alpha gustducin, mediating PLC-beta-2 activation, and gating TRPM5 channels. TAS2R41 is expressed in gustducin-positive taste receptor cells, and individual taste cells can discriminate among bitter stimuli.
