Target Information
Uridylyltransferase that mediates the terminal uridylation of mRNAs with short poly(A) tails, facilitating global mRNA decay. Plays essential roles in oocyte maturation and fertility through mRNA uridylation with TUT7. Involved in microRNA (miRNA)-induced gene silencing and regulation of miRNA biogenesis by mediating uridylation of miRNA precursors such as pre-let-7. Functions as a suppressor of miRNA biogenesis, particularly in the presence of LIN28A. Also contributes to restricting retrotransposition of LINE-1 elements in cooperation with MOV10.
