Target Information
GPX8 (Probable glutathione peroxidase 8), also known as GSHPx-8, belongs to the glutathione peroxidase family.
Glutathione peroxidase (GPx) reduces hydroperoxides, including hydrogen peroxides, in the presence of reduced glutathione to protect organisms from oxidative damage.
Eight GPx isozymes (GPx1–GPx8) have been identified in humans, classified by cellular location and substrate specificity.
Full-length GPX8 consists of 209 amino acids with a molecular weight of approximately 24 kDa.
