Target Information
Mucin 13 (MUC13) is an epithelial transmembrane protein. The SEA domain is an extracellular region associated with O-glycosylation. Proteins containing SEA-modules include agrin, enterokinase, 63 kDa sea urchin sperm protein, perlecan, mucin 1, and the cell surface antigen 114/A10, as well as two uncharacterised Caenorhabditis elegans proteins. These adhesive proteins commonly exist in heavily glycosylated environments, with O-glycosidic-linked carbohydrates such as heparan sulphate contributing to molecular mass and binding properties. Enterokinase, the initiator of intestinal digestion, is a mosaic protease composed of multiple distinct domains.
