Target Information
Rubicon (RUN domain Beclin-1 interacting and cysteine-rich containing protein) interacts with Beclin-1 and ATG14L to regulate autophagy.
Knockdown of Rubicon enhances autophagy, whereas knockdown of ATG14L impairs autophagosome formation.
Rubicon functions as part of a Beclin-1–PIK3C3-containing autophagy complex and positively regulates the NADPH oxidase complex.
Upon microbial infection or TLR2 activation, Rubicon interacts with CYBA subunit of NADPH oxidase, inducing reactive oxygen species and inflammatory cytokine production.
