Product Specific Information
This antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
STK17B (also known as DRAK2) is a serine/threonine kinase related to death-associated protein kinase, which triggers apoptosis. It plays a selective role in T-cell survival, and inhibition of STK17B has potential therapeutic applications for autoimmune diseases.
T-cell survival depends on a balance between T-cell receptor and co-stimulatory signals. Deficiency of STK17B can influence autoimmune disease susceptibility without broadly suppressing the immune system.
Protein kinases are crucial in signal transduction responding to external stimuli. Overexpression of ZIP kinase induces apoptotic morphological changes in NIH 3T3 cells.
Sanjo et al. identified DRAK1 and DRAK2 (Death Receptor Associated Kinase 1 and 2), which share significant homology with ZIP kinase and DAP kinase, both involved in apoptotic signaling. Overexpression of DRAKs in NIH 3T3 cells induces apoptosis, suggesting that the C-terminal domain of DRAKs is essential for apoptosis induction.
