Target Information
GCPR54 (also known as KiSS1 receptor) is a galanin-like G protein-coupled receptor that binds metastin, a peptide encoded by the metastasis suppressor gene KISS1. The receptor is implicated in the regulation of endocrine function and the onset of puberty. It is expressed in various human tissues including brain regions, placenta, pancreas, and spinal cord, and at lower levels in spleen, leukocytes, testis, lymph node, thymus, small intestine, stomach, lung, and kidney. In rat, expression is observed in liver, intestine, and multiple brain regions such as pons, midbrain, thalamus, hypothalamus, hippocampus, amygdala, cortex, and striatum. The receptor is also abundant in tumor tissues.
