KHDRBS3는 RNA 결합 단백질로서 대체 스플라이싱의 조절 및 mRNA 스플라이스 부위 선택에 관여합니다. 세포 성장의 음성 조절자로 작용하며, 혈관내피 성장인자의 스플라이스 부위 선택에 영향을 미칩니다. 또한 CD44 pre-mRNA의 엑손 포함을 농도 의존적으로 증가시키며, purine-rich exonic enhancer에 직접 결합합니다. RNA 결합 능력은 tyrosine kinase PTK6에 의해 하향 조절됩니다. HIV-1 유전자 발현의 전사 후 조절에도 관련되어 있습니다.
