ZIC1 유전자는 C2H2형 zinc finger 단백질을 암호화하는 ZIC family의 구성원으로, 발생 과정에서 중요한 역할을 합니다. 이 유전자의 비정상적 발현은 소아 뇌종양인 medulloblastoma에서 관찰됩니다. ZIC1은 염색체 3에 위치한 ZIC4와 밀접하게 연관되어 있으며, apolipoprotein E 유전자의 전사 활성화에 관여할 수 있습니다.
