Target Information

TAOK1 (Thousand and One Amino Acid Kinase 1) is a serine/threonine-protein kinase involved in regulating the p38-containing stress-responsive MAP kinase and ERK kinase (MEK) pathways.
It activates MEK3, linking TAOK1 to the regulation of the p38 MAPK cascade.
Also known as MARKK (Microtubule Affinity-Regulating Kinase Kinase), TAOK1 plays key roles in mitotic progression, chromosome congression, and checkpoint-induced anaphase delay.
TAOK1 participates in processes such as stress-activated MAPK signaling, DNA damage response, and cytoskeleton stability regulation.
It phosphorylates MAP2K3, MAP2K6, and MARK2, acting as an activator of the p38/MAPK cascade and contributing to G-protein–coupled receptor signaling to p38/MAPK14.
In response to DNA damage, TAOK1 mediates the G2/M transition checkpoint through MAP2K3 and MAP2K6 phosphorylation, regulating apoptosis and cytoskeletal integrity.
