Antibody detects endogenous levels of MCL1 only when phosphorylated at Thr163.
Target Information
MCL1 (Myeloid cell leukemia-1) belongs to the Bcl-2 family and plays a key role in cell viability and apoptosis regulation. Isoform 1 inhibits apoptosis, whereas isoform 2 promotes it. MCL1 expression increases in response to DNA-damaging agents such as ionizing and ultraviolet radiation. It is mainly associated with mitochondria and contributes to cell survival under apoptotic conditions. MCL1 interacts with pro-apoptotic proteins like Bim or Bak, neutralizing their activity. It is essential for embryogenesis and lymphocyte development, existing as two isoforms: MCL1L and MCL1S.
