Target Information
YPEL1 (yippee-like 1) is thought to play a role in the epithelioid conversion of fibroblasts and the regulation of cellular morphology. It is a 119 amino acid protein localized to the nucleus and belongs to the yippee-like protein family (YPEL2–5), which localize to the centrosome and nucleus and are widely expressed in adult and fetal tissues.
Human YPEL proteins share high sequence homology with rodent homologs, suggesting conserved function across species. YPEL1 may be an important factor in tissue development and malignant transformation.
