Background
Chromosomal aberrations involving IGHG1 may be associated with multiple myeloma (MIM:254500). Reported translocations include:
- t(11;14)(q13;q32) with CCND1
- t(4;14)(p16.3;q32.3) with FGFR3
- t(6;14)(p25;q32) with IRF4
Additional notes:
- Variations observed among disease-related proteins (OMM, WIS, ZUC, EU, KOL, Nie) in V region, CH1 region, and hinge structure.
- Amino acid amidation differences at residues 35, 116, 155, 166, 177, 195, 198, 267, 268–272, and 269 depending on allotype.
- Hinge region in gamma-3 chains is approximately four times longer than in other gamma chains, containing repetitive 15-residue segments.
- During B-lymphocyte differentiation, expression shifts from membrane-bound IgM to secreted IgM.
- The antibody subunit is a dimer linked by 12 disulfide bonds, including one additional interchain bond at position 7.
