Target Information
CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in preventing replication when DNA integrity is compromised.
CHK1 is a key mediator in the DNA damage-induced checkpoint network and plays a critical role in maintaining genomic stability under genotoxic stress.
When CHK1 function is inhibited, p53-deficient cancer cells undergo mitotic catastrophe and apoptosis, while normal cells remain arrested in G1 phase.
Therefore, CHK1 inhibition can enhance the efficacy of DNA-damaging agents in p53-deficient cancer cells, making it an attractive therapeutic target in oncology research.
