Target Information
B4GALT4 유전자는 7개의 β-1,4-galactosyltransferase (beta4GalT) 유전자 중 하나로, UDP-galactose를 donor substrate로 사용하여 galactose를 β1,4 결합 형태로 GlcNAc, Glc, Xyl 등의 acceptor sugar에 전달합니다.
각 beta4GalT는 다양한 glycoconjugate 및 saccharide 구조의 생합성에 고유한 역할을 가지며, type II membrane protein으로서 N-말단 신호 서열을 통해 Golgi apparatus로 이동하여 transmembrane anchor로 작용합니다.
beta4GalT는 유사 서열에 따라 네 그룹으로 분류되며, B4GALT4는 주로 glycolipid 생합성에 관여합니다.
두 가지 alternative splicing transcript variant가 보고되었습니다.
