Target Information
The FBXL2 gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif known as the F-box. These proteins form part of the SCF (SKP1-cullin-F-box) ubiquitin ligase complex, which mediates phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
F-box proteins are classified into three groups:
- Fbws containing WD-40 domains
- Fbls containing leucine-rich repeats
- Fbxs with diverse interaction modules or no recognizable motifs
FBXL2 belongs to the Fbls class and contains 12 tandem leucine-rich repeats. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
