Protein phosphatase 2 (PP2) is one of the four major Ser/Thr phosphatases involved in the negative regulation of cell growth and division. PP2 holoenzymes are heterotrimeric, consisting of a structural subunit A, catalytic subunit C, and regulatory subunit B.
The regulatory subunits are encoded by diverse genes grouped into B/PR55, B`/PR61, and B/PR72 families, each conferring distinct enzymatic specificities and intracellular localizations.
PPP2R3B belongs to the B family, specifically the beta subfamily of regulatory subunit B``. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
